Naftalan is a globally unique medical sanatorium for the treatment of psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, scleroderma and inflammatory rheumatic diseases.
"Naftalan" is a modern and unique sanatorium that uses powerful medicinal agents, oil naphtalane and hyperthermic brine (sodiumchloride, flouride) that derive from the existence and disappearance of the Pannonian Sea more than 10000 years ago.
Naftalan Centre
The Curing properties of naphtalane oil have been used by medical practice for over 600 years and is an extremely rare medical resource with the sanatorium being only the second locality where the oil is found in the world and moreover the only site in Europe.
Today the "Naftalan" sanatorium offers medical treatment for skin, rheumatic diseases and rehabilitation. Among many dermatological and rehabilitation treatments the sanatorium has developed specific treatments for skin diseases (psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, prurigo, scleroderma, contact dermatitis), inflammatory rheumatic diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondilitis) and blood vessel diseases (Burger’s disease, Raynaud’s disease). All treatments in the sanatorium are based on the modern medical diagnostic procedures and performed by medical doctors, nurses and specialists in medical rehabilitation.
Thermal Water Therapy
The sanatorium "Naftalan" sanatorium has 111 beds in comfortable single, double or triple rooms. Apart from all the room comforts, guests are able to make use of direct telephone/telefax lines and the hotel facilities. Each floor is equipped with lounges and kitchenettes and the sanatorium has a spacious atrium with a coffee bar available to for all guests. In the local vicinity guests can also make use of a sports park with tennis courts, a bowling alley and football courts.
The "Naftalan" sanatorium is situated in a small historical town Ivanić Grad 20 minutes (27 km) car ride from the centre of Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. This short distance enables very good connections to the city of Zagreb and Zagreb International Airport.
Excursions and Trips
If requested, one or two day trips can be arranged throughout your stay at Naftalan, including site visits to Zagreb, Plitvice lakes (Unesco World Heritage Site), Castles and monuments and even to the Adriatic Coast. Prices for trips are not included in the treatments and can vary depending on the size of the groups.
